Setting Intentions: Resolutions for the New Dance Year

As the calendar turns it’s the perfect time to reflect, reset, and set new goals. At LPD, we see this as a chance to celebrate your growth, embrace fresh challenges, and channel your passion for dance into meaningful progress. Making resolutions isn’t just about big changes—it’s about small, intentional steps that can help you thrive in and out of the studio.

Here are some ideas to inspire your resolutions for the year ahead:

Strengthen Your Foundations

Every great dancer knows the importance of a solid foundation. This year, commit to refining your technique. Whether it’s nailing the basics or mastering that tricky turn, taking time to focus on fundamentals will enhance every aspect of your dancing.

Resolution Inspiration:

  • Spend 5-10 minutes warming up with foundational exercises before every class.

Try Something New

Dance is a journey of exploration. Why not step outside your comfort zone and try a new style or technique? Adding variety to your training can challenge your body in new ways and spark fresh inspiration.

Resolution Inspiration:

  • Attend a workshop or masterclass to learn from guest artists.

Prioritize Your Wellness

Dance takes both physical and mental energy. This year, make self-care a priority to support your overall well-being. Rest, hydration, proper nutrition, and mindfulness practices can help you feel your best in the studio.

Resolution Inspiration:

  • Focus on getting enough sleep and fueling your body with nutritious meals.

Celebrate Progress Over Perfection

It’s easy to get caught up in striving for perfection, but true growth comes from recognizing and celebrating the progress you make along the way. Shift your mindset to focus on the journey rather than the destination.

Resolution Inspiration:

  • Keep a dance journal to track milestones, challenges, and triumphs.

  • Take time to acknowledge small wins after each class or performance.

Set SMART Goals

Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound goals can help you stay focused and motivated throughout the year. Instead of saying, “I want to improve my dancing,” try something more concrete like, “I will practice my turns three times a week to improve my balance and consistency by June.”

Jump Into the Bingo Card Resolution Trend!

Bingo cards aren’t just for games anymore—they’ve become a and fun way to set and share goals. The idea is simple: each square on the card represents a resolution or goal, and as you accomplish them, you mark them off. It's a playful way to track progress, keep yourself motivated, and share your wins with others.

We’ve created an LPD 2025 Bingo Card packed with resolutions that inspire creativity, confidence, kindness, and community growth.

You can download your own Bingo Card template below and personalize your goals for the year.

The beauty of a new dance year is the opportunity to evolve—not just as a dancer, but as a person. By setting resolutions that align with your passions and priorities, you’ll create a roadmap for growth that’s both rewarding and sustainable.
